Shihan Hussein Hassan Suleiman, 6th Dan, was born in Lebanon of
Arab descent. He began training at the age of fourteen
in boxing and body building before he joined the martial
arts with Judo then Tae Kwon Do.
His trainer in Tae Kwon Do had heard much of the Kyokushin
system and began introducing and adopting Mas Oyamas
renowned techniques into his own curriculum.
After years of training under his Instructor in Lebanon,
Shihan Suleiman was soon offered a prestigious position
as a trainer with a famous Sports Organization in
Kuwait. He quickly moved himself and his family to the tiny,
affluent country where he began his own Kyokushin Karate
club which has since blossomed into one of the largest
and most distinguished karate clubs in the Middle East.
Shihan Suleimans students were naturally adept fighters who
soon broke many records in Europe, the Middle East and
in Japan with their many competitive successes and
titles. The Middle East Kyokushin Organization was
growing rapidly and Mas Oyama took notice.
In 1991, Sosai Mas Oyama visited the country of Lebanon and
together with Shihan Suleiman held the first Middle East
Karate Championship which was followed by the first
Middle East International Training Camp. Both events
were a huge success, introducing thousands of people to
the Kyokushin way.
Soon after, Mas Oyama appointed Shihan Suleiman,
Chairman of the Middle East Kyokushin Organization.
